Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 – Prioritizing Mums of all ages

Why Maternal Mental Health Week Matters

It is Maternal Mental Health Week, a time to shine a spotlight on a deeply important but often overlooked issue: the emotional and psychological wellbeing of mothers.

Pregnancy and motherhood are often portrayed as times of joy and fulfilment—but the reality can be far more complex.   All too often, mental health resources are concentrated around pregnancy and the first year postpartum. But motherhood doesn’t end after 12 months—it evolves. Mothers of toddlers, teens, and even adult children face a range of emotional challenges, including anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, grief, and more.

Each stage of motherhood brings with it new challenges, just like every child is different your experience of being a parent will be different.

To every mother who feels overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed: you are not alone. Help is available, and healing is possible.  If you're looking for support, a safe space where you can express the whole range of emotions that being a parent can bring do reach out to me so we can chat about how I might be able to support you.

Mums often come to me at different stages of their parenting journey , for example

  • Returning to work or managing work-life balance

  • Parenting teens through difficult transitions

  • Navigating "empty nest" feelings as children leave home

  • Coping with the demands of caregiving for both children and aging parents

  • Grieving miscarriage, stillbirth, or loss at any age

Your wellbeing matters as much as your child's, taking care of yourself role models healthy habits to your child. Because when mothers are mentally well, families and communities thrive.
