COUNSELLING AND THERAPY IN BANSTEAD, SURREY AND ONLINE

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions people often have but if there is anything else you would like to know please do not hesitate to get in contact with me enquiry@bansteadtherapy.com.

What types of therapy does Banstead Therapy offer?

One-to-one counselling for adults is available. I offer integrative counselling based on my training in person-centred, gestalt and transactional analysis. You can find information on these modalities here.

Working integratively means I can be flexible in tailoring your therapy to your individual needs and wants. Rather than focusing on a specific problem or symptom, I take a holistic approach which means I consider how mental, physical, cultural, social and spiritual factors influence your well-being. This will help you to increase your self-awareness and in turn in general improve your general wellbeing.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you have is your choice. I suggest we meet initially for a minimum of 6 sessions, from here we can discuss if you would like to continue for a specific number of sessions or on an open-ended basis. I will regularly check-in with you regarding how you are finding therapy to ensure you are getting what you need.

Why do therapists charge different rates?

In private practice, each individual therapist sets their own pricing. There are various factors that contribute to the prices that therapists charge. These can include things like: their level of training and experience, knowledge and areas of expertise, specialist skill sets, their location, current living costs and therapy expenses such as renting a therapy room, supervision, governing body membership, insurance, continued professional development etc.

Where do sessions take place?

You can choose in-person or online sessions.

We can meet face-to-face in my comfortable and private counselling room in Banstead. Alternatively your session can take place online via video call. For this, I ask that for your session you ensure you are somewhere private, where you will not be disturbed.

How much do you charge?

I charge £60 for in-person sessions and £55 for online sessions.

What are your qualifications?

I studied for four years to be a counsellor and obtained a BSc in Humanistic Counselling degree from the Metanoia Institute, London. Metanoia Institute has a long-standing reputation for providing training of outstanding relevance and quality. Prior to my degree I completed a Level 2 and 3 in counselling skills and theory.

I also hold a certificate in online and telephone counselling, which demonstrates I meet the requirements of the BACP’s competence framework to work with clients online and via telephone.

I regularly take part in CPD (continued personal development) to increase my knowledge and skills.
